Dave Rudolph has been a working musician in the Tampa Bay area since 1994. He earned a music performance degree from the University of South Florida in 2001. At USF, he performed with both the Jazz and classical departments, playing in many ensembles including their orchestra, percussion ensemble, Jazz combos and big bands. Dave’s professional experience includes being a first-call drummer for several musical productions at The Straz Center, working as a show musician for a major cruise line and writing and performing with the fusion group, Thick as Thieves. Dave also enjoys jumping in and playing live or in the studio with some of the area’s most talented Jazz, Rock, Funk, Big Band and R&B artists.
Most recently Dave has been performing with noted bay area Jazz artist, Valerie Gillespie as a member of her trio. The band of highly skilled players covers a wide variety of music in the Jazz idiom. From tender ballads and thoughtful Bossa Novas to burning Bebop and gritty funk selections, The Valerie Gillespie Ensemble plays material that everyone can enjoy. The group has been gaining local recognition as well as they were one of only a few featured groups from Tampa to play at the 2011 Clearwater Jazz Holiday.
Born in NY, Tom started playing guitar at 10 after hearing Elvis and the Beatles and played in rock bands throughout his teen years. After leaving high school, he discovered jazz and moved to Tampa to attend the University of South Florida’s jazz program. Upon graduation, he became the guitarist and musical director with jazz singer, Belinda Womack and was voted Tampa Bay’s Best Jazz Band in 1994. Tom performed concerts with legendary cornetist Nat Adderly and opened shows for numerous national jazz acts including Branford Marsalis, The Rippingtons, Spyro Gyra, Olta Adams, Herbie Mann and many others. He currently performs with the modern jazz trio Thick As Thieves, 12 piece big band Southtown Fever and various bands and national artists. Tom is currently the jazz guitar instructor at The University of Tampa.
Tom is also an avid Film and Television composer with recent credits on ABC, A&E, FOX’s American Idol and ESPN. He has composed the score to a number of films including the teen comedy feature, ‘3 Times a Charm (2011)’, teen horror feature ‘Bloody Homecoming (2012)’ and his score for the drama ‘Thirst (2010)’ was nominated for “Best Original Score” at the Pan Pacific Film Festival 2011 in Los Angeles. Tom has also written advertising spots for Esurance, Disney's 'Alice in Wonderland', Honda, and many others. He composed the intro to the heavy rock band Shinedown’s 2011 live show and it appears on their live CD/DVD, “Somewhere In The Stratosphere”.
TJ Glowacki (Electric Bass) is a performer, educator, and producer/audio engineer. He holds a B.M. and an M.M. with honors from the University of South Florida. A regular member of the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, TJ has also performed with the Florida Orchestra, The Jacksonville Symphony, The Prague International Chamber Orchestra, Opera Tampa, and Opera Naples. Mr. Glowacki has worked on many national Broadway tours throughout Florida including Thoroughly Modern Millie, My Fair Lady, Annie, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, A Chorus Line, Grease, Wicked, Irving Berlins’s White Christmas and West Side Story. He has also performed as a backing musician to Shirley Jones, Robert Goulet, Michael W. Smith, Marie Osmond, Don Rickles, Joan Rivers, Barry Manilow, Martin Short, and many other Pop, Jazz and Orchestral ensembles. In the Tampa, FL area, TJ has played and recorded with some of the top local jazz, rock, theater, and pop performers, many of them earning Best of the Bay recognition. Believing in the importance of education to the young musician, he currently maintains a private studio, and also teaches at Hillsborough Community College, The Patel Conservatory, and St. Petersburg College.
Thick As Thieves has continued to hone their unique jazz voice in the Tampa Bay area over the last ten years. The ensemble has a wide range of musical inspirations, and their extensive song list reflects this. From inspired original material to selections by Cole Porter and Pat Metheny, Thick As Thieves strive to blend contemporary innovations with a traditional jazz foundation. The trio, made up of Tom Jemmott (Guitar), TJ Glowacki (Bass) and Dave Rudolph (Drums) have played for some of the areas’ most discerning audiences at clubs, concerts and private functions, including MJ's Jazz Lounge, Gasparilla Art Festival, Baywalk, MOSI, Hyde Park Art Festival, Sea Grapes Food and Wine, Grille 29, “Splash of Jazz” at the Florida Aquarium and many other events. With a busy performance and rehearsal schedule, a new CD in the works, Thick As Thieves will continue to refine their take on the modern jazz/funk guitar trio and bring their music to new audiences everywhere.
